What is synthetic rubber?

Naturally, rubber is basically useless. Only functions when certain chemicals are added.

Synthetic rubber is used in many cases instead of natural rubber. Depending on the added chemicals and associated characteristics, synthetic rubber can be as hard as a bowling ball, as flexible as a rubber band or as soft as a sponge.

Synthetic rubber is considered when improved material properties are required. About 70% of all rubber used today is made of synthetic rubber.

What are synthetic rubber types?

Synthetic rubber is made artificially from petrochemical raw materials. Crude oil is the main raw material for different types of rubber in the synthetic category. Unlike natural rubber, which is only a chemical type, there are 20 different types of synthetic rubber, and there are different degrees of all types of rubber. Different types of rubber, especially synthetic rubber types, have their own individual characteristics and benefits. The industry selects the type of rubber that best suits its intended purpose.
